Who was a truly insane historical figure?

I'm writing a novella in which the main character's tragic fall is his slip into insanity. He eventually believes that he is the only savior left to bust open several alien conspiracies.

I wanted him to carry a first name similar or exactly like a famous insane historical figure. The main character's last name is already guaranteed to be ';Salvador'; or one of its variations, which translates into ';Savior';. I just need a first name which can be associated with a crazy person. Not necessarily someone who believed they were a savior, just someone a little not-right in the head.Who was a truly insane historical figure?
David Koresh (alias Vernon Wayne Howell)

Marshall Applewhite

Michael Travesser (alias Wayne Bent)

Truly insane historical figures!

Ludwig II, The Swan King of Barvaria - 1886, thought he was a king of a fairy tale

Emperor Joshua A Norton I, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico - my personal favorite, the hobo that became emperor

Gaius Caesar Germanicus - better known as Caligula - the true love between a man and his horse (and sister)

Nicola Tesla, inventor of the Tesla Coil - he was 'out there' with power

Frank Buckland, The Man Who Ate Noah鈥檚 Ark - he ate his way through every animal on the ark, panther, elephant, lemur, giraffe, etc dug up dead zoo animals so he could eat 'em....yum.
Maximilien Robespierre, he was a hero throughout the french revolution, and became ensnared in his ideals of liberty, and freedom, to the point where he became insane, and killed anyone threatening to disrupt that peace, he was later killed by the very same people that praised him, because they feared they would be subject to the guillotine's blade because of his judgments.

I hope that helps.
You could try using some of the mental problems of King Charles VI of France. He had occasional paranoia and 'altered memories', and on occasion suffered from the delusion that he was made of glass and had to take precautions to avoid breakages ...
