How do I figure this problem out?

If Sally can paint a house in 4 hours, and John can paint the same house in 6 hour, how long will it take for both of them to paint the house together?

The answer is 2 hours and 24 minutes. But how do i figure that out?

Thanks.How do I figure this problem out?
Sally can paint the house in 4 hours or she can paint 1/4 of the house in 1 hour.

John can paint the house in 6 hours or he can paint 1/6 of the house in 1 hour

( 1/4 + 1/6)x = 1

(3/12 + 2/12)x = 1

5/12x = 1

x = 12/5

x = 2.4 hours or 2 hours and 24 minutes

How do I figure this problem out?
4*6/(4+6)=24/10=2 2/5= 2 hours 24 minutes

t(1/4+1/6)=1 t=4*6/(4+6)

1/4+1/6=1/x

3/12 +2/12=1/x

5/12=1/x

x=12/5

x=2.4

1=60min

.4=x

x=24min

yes, 2hours and 24min
