How do I figure out this HARD MATH question? I have the answer, cant figure out the steps?

Vectors and Scalar Multiples and such.

A ball is thrown with an initial velocity of 80 feet per second at an angle of 40掳 with the horizontal. Find the vertical and horizontal components.

horizontal component鈮?1.3 ft/sec

vertical component鈮?1.4 ft/sec

What are the steps, though? Please answer ASAP!How do I figure out this HARD MATH question? I have the answer, cant figure out the steps?
Picture a right triangle, with the path of the ball being the hypotenuse, 40 degrees above the horizontal. Use trig to find your answer:

x (horizontal component) = cos(40deg) * 80 = 61.3

y (vertical component) = sin(40deg) * 80 = 51.4
