These answers from believers of pure evolution from beginning to present as logical explanation of why we have different races are funny as in stupid funny.They would argue skin pigment is darker because of environment, while there are really dark people from jungle environments while by their logic should be lighter than those of desert areas. Russians from Siberia should be covered in dark wool, not blondes with fair skin, and they don't even bother to answer why Asians eyes are different. Shouldn't people living near water be more streamlined or mountain people have bigger lungs or people living in foggy areas have better eyes ?
My point is, if you believe race is environmental you are science stupid and waste your brain on silly theory.
Also phoenix all you have is your beliefs weather they are true or false or a combination of true and false like everyone else on this planet it is still only your belief, not fact. unless you can say you know everything without error.
To the religious who have tunnel vision. The answer to races is right in front of you.
';let US make man in OUR image after OUR likeness';
These are plural terms, man was created in different parts of the world at the same time by many racial beings under the instruction of GOD Almighty while he made adam in his own likeness as example and placed in the garden of eden.
Also the story of the flood of Noah, is shared by simular stories of selected people being spared from a world wide flood by many different races world wide.
All races are special one no better than another, pehaps we will find whole planets of each race some day.How does the different races figure into religion, and how are they explained by evolution ?
By a Biblical view, everyone was created equal and Adam would have had the genetic information for all of the different race variations that we see today.
By an evolutionary view, people developed with different characteristics in different areas where they would thrive. The differences are a result of their environment. By this view, some people could be more evolved than others.
The process of microevolution would work with both worldviews. The human race was either created or evolved from a lower life form. But through natural selection and a result of the environment, certain traits become stronger in certain areas. Like people in hot climates developed more pigment. And people in northern regions with less light tended to develop more hair and less pigment.
Microevolution isn't contrary to either theory. It does not involve speciation, the development of new species which general evolution supports, so it can be an acceptable answer to those who hold a Biblical worldview.
We know that human life started in a warm climate. There is little evidence that humans were ever covered with hair thick enough to survive Northern climates.
Because they evolved in various places around the equater, nature gave them dark skins and dark eyes to protect them from the intense light and heat of the sun .
After the last ice age , the great herds of grazing animals moved North as the ice melted , and the grass was lush and thick . The people who depended on the herding animals for food and shelter ( excellent huts were made from the skins ) and clothing .
Now the skin and eyes were getting far less of the sun's rays.So through the thousands of years , eyes and skins lightened. A perfect example of evolution at work .
Yes but the Eskimos live up North , but have dark skins . Right, come around a half million years from now , and see how light- skinned they became.
Nature is in no hurry . Evolution takes hundreds of thousands , or millions of years in most cases .
Now for Oriental eyes . Millions of years ago , people were few . In order to survive as hunters and gatherers they had to spread far away from others because it didn't take long to hunt out an area.
Four or five families would travel very far from others to guarantee a long lasting supply of food . Those groups grew and grew .With the discovery of agriculture and animal raising it ws no longer necessary to keep moving .
In the thousands of years , these groups became nations . Being cut off from the others , they developed different languages , but many of the family features are still detectable. For that reason Orientals have a certain look , Irish can sometimes be seem in the features of the people , etc .
I hope you can make something out of the above . It is being written without notes or editing .
'Race' is a very sloppy and rather unscientific classification. All there really is is large groups that have been partially genetically isolated from others for some time, and have started to share a few common traits.
Skin pigmentation being a more striking one, because there will always be an optimum melanin level for a given climate. Put two identical twins at different latitudes and let them breed for a few tens of thousands of years, and their skin colour will adjust to minimise sun damage and temperature.
But the genetic differences between two 'races' are so small they're almost undetectable. There will be more variation within one 'race' than between two.

I don't see race.
-Stephen Colbert.
According to the Bible, all people today descended from the survivors of a great Flood - Noah's family, who in turn descended from Adam and Eve (Gen 1:11). There are many stories, from many parts of the world, of a great Flood that only several people survived to repopulate the earth.
But today we have many different groups, often called ';races'; with what seem to be greatly differing features. The most obvious of these is skin color. Some see this as a reason to doubt the Bible's record of history. They believe that the various groups could have arisen only by evolving separately over tens of thousands of years. However, this does not follow from the evidence.
The Bible tells us how the population that descended from Noah's family had one language and were living together and disobeying God's command to ';fill the earth'; (Gen 9:1, 11:4). God confused their language, causing a break-up of the population into smaller groups, which scattered over the earth (Gen. 11:8-9). Modern genetics shows how, following such a break-up of a population, variations in skin color, for example, can develop in only a few generations. And there is good evidence to show that the various groups of people we have today have NOT been separated for huge periods of time.
One could say there is really only one race - the human race. The Bible teaches us that God has ';made from one blood all nations of men'; (Acts 17:26. Scripture distinguishes people by tribal or national groupings, not by skin color or physical features. Clearly, though, there are groups of people, who have certain features (e.g. skin color) in common, which distinguish them from other groups. We prefer to call these ';people groups'; rather than ';races,'; to avoid the evolutionary and racist connotations that have become associated with the word ';race.';
All peoples can intermarry and produce fertile offspring. This shows that the biological differences between the ';races'; are not great. In fact, the DNA differences are trivial. The DNA of any two people in the world would typically differ by just 0.2%. Of this, only 6% can be linked to racial categories; the rest is ';within race'; variation.
This genetic unity means, for instance, that white Americans, although ostensibly far removed from black Americans in phenotype, can sometimes be better tissue matches for them than other black Americans.

Evolution isn't a belief, it's a fact. The fact with races is that different partitions of homo sapiens branched off into different areas of the earth and evolved to adapt to their differing environments.
Agree with Phoenix.
Humans have always evolved to suit their surroundings.
That is why some races are good sportsmen while some are good at mathematics!
It is a fact, but I know some trolls might get offended and report this response.
Religion is in some cases attached to a certain race or because certain races were mentioned in the religious texts. However, race is not necessarily connected to a religion.
